A CryoProbe TCI was installed in January, 2006, on the existing Bruker Avance 800 MHz NMR spectrometer. The CryoProbe delivers a 3-4 fold increase in signal to noise ratio (S/N) by reducing the operating temperature of the NMR coil assembly and the preamplifier. The operating sample temperature is stabilized at a user defined value around room temperature, while the NMR coil assembly, which is located only a few millimeters from the sample, is cooled with cryogenic helium gas. A fully automated closed-loop cooling system ensures excellent stability during short and long-term experiments. The sensitivity enhancement of CryoProbe results in a vast increase in the both the efficiency and concentration range of samples available to the spectrometer. A 3-fold increase in the S/N translates into a 9-fold reduction in acquisition time, with the spectroscopic handling and use being very similar to that of a conventional probe. The CryoProbe will benefit the whole NMR community in Houston aria.
The TCI CryoProbe system includes four parts, CryoProbe, Cooling Control Unit, Helium Compressor, and Cylinders of He and N2 gases.
